FREE Septic System Maintenance for Homeowners Workshop on Tuesday, September 17th from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau Building at 1793 U.S. Hwy 281 in Lampasas.  This course provides a basic understanding of the operational and maintenance activities of a septic system, and explains how activities within the home impact septic systems.  Presentations will cover the treatment processes, health and safety considerations, how to inspect, care for and feed the system, and general maintenance procedures.  To register, please contact me, either by phone or email; for information about the program, visit http://ossf.tamu.edu/. A FREE Lone Star Healthy Streams Workshop is set to take place on September 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau Building at 1793 U.S. Hwy 281 in Lampasas. The Lone Star Healthy Streams program aims to educate Texas livestock producers and land managers on how to best protect Texas waterways from bacterial contributions associated with livestock production and feral hogs.  Three continuing education credits will be provided for certified pesticide applicators through the Texas Department of Agriculture.  Lampasas County Farm Bureau Insurance Agents are sponsoring lunch for all participants.  To RSVP for the workshop, please visit http://lshs.tamu.edu/workshops/or call Jennifer Peterson, Extension Program Specialist, at 979-862-8072. FREE Proper Functioning Condition Riparian Workshop in cooperation with NRCS on September 26 at the Briggs Community Center, 215 Loop 308 in Briggs.  Participants will learn the basic interaction of hydrology, erosion and vegetation for Central Texas creeks and rivers.  Topics to be covered include: channels, floodplains, water table, vegetation, base flow, flood flow, sediment and how all of these things in combination make up the riparian area.  To register, please contact me, either by phone or email. 

Feral Hog Management Workshop, $15 per person in cooperation with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on Wednesday, October 16th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Lampasas, 2974 South U.S. HWY 281.  Topics will include feral hog biology, rules and regulations for hunting, trapping and transporting feral hogs as well as health concerns.  Please pre- register by contacting me, either by phone or email.  A catered meal will be served.
