Healthy Lawns and Healthy Waters Class - August 31, 2021

Healthy Lawn Healthy Water 2021 08

We are pleased to be hosting a Healthy Lawns Healthy Waters (HLHW) class in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful on August 31 with a focus on Coryell, Bell, Lampasas and Mills Counties and the Lampasas River Watershed. This free event, with both in-person and Zoom online options, will be held from 10:00 am-2:30 p.m. The in-person training will be held at the Copperas Cove Library, 501 South Main St, Copperas Cove. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

The HLHW class is a residential rainwater harvesting and turf management training that aims to improve and protect surface water quality by enhancing awareness and knowledge of best management practices for residential landscapes. Attendees can RSVP online or contact John Smith, AgriLife Extension program specialist, College Station, at johnwsmith@tamu.edu or 979-204-0573. Those who RSVP to the event will receive updates, instructions to join the online meeting and materials related to the meeting via email.

Participants can also have their soil tested as part of the training. The soil sample bag and analysis are free to Healthy Lawns and Healthy Waters Program participants. Residents can pick up a soil sample bag with sampling instructions and the Urban and Homeowner Soil Sample Information Form, beginning August 2, at the AgriLife Extension offices in Coryell, Bell, Lampasas, or Mills. Bags containing residents’ soil samples should be returned to the location where they were obtained by one week after the meeting. Please do not mail the soil sample to the lab.

More information and registration can be found on the HLHW website.
